Paraffin wax, also known as crystalline wax, is a kind of non-polar solvent, which is soluble in gasoline, carbon disulfide, xylene, ether, benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, naphtha, etc. It is insoluble in polar solvents, such as water and methanol.
Main purpose
Coarse paraffin is mainly used for making matches, fiberboard, canvas, etc. due to its high oil content. When polyolefin additives are added to paraffin wax, its melting point increases, its adhesion and flexibility increase, and it is widely used in the production of moisture-proof and waterproof packaging paper, cardboard, surface coating of some textiles, and candles.
After the paper is dipped in paraffin wax, various waxed papers with good waterproof performance can be made, which can be used in food, medicine and other packaging, metal rust prevention and printing industries; When paraffin is added to cotton yarn, the textile can be soft, smooth and elastic; Paraffin wax can also be used to make detergents, emulsifiers, dispersants, plasticizers, greases, etc.
Fully refined paraffin wax and semi refined paraffin wax are widely used, mainly as components and packaging materials for food, oral medicine and some commodities (such as wax paper, crayons, candles, carbon paper), as well as coating materials for baking containers, for fruit preservation [3], electrical component insulation, improving rubber aging resistance and flexibility [4]. It can also be used for oxidation to produce synthetic fatty acids.
As a kind of latent heat energy storage material, paraffin has the advantages of large latent heat of phase change, small volume change during solid liquid phase change, good thermal stability, no supercooling, low price, etc. In addition, with the development of aviation, aerospace, microelectronics and optoelectronics technology, it is often required that a large amount of heat dissipation generated during the operation of high-power components can only be dissipated in a limited heat dissipation area and a very short time. Phase change materials with low melting point can quickly reach the melting point compared with phase change materials with high melting point, making full use of the latent heat to achieve temperature control. The relatively short thermal response time of paraffin wax has many advantages, making it available in aviation, aerospace High tech systems such as microelectronics and various fields such as building energy conservation have been widely used. GB 2760-96 stipulates that it is allowed to be used as gum base agent, with a limit of 50.0g/kg. It is also used for anti sticking in the production of glutinous rice paper abroad, with the dosage of 6g/kg. In addition, it is also widely used for moisture-proof, anti stick and oil proof of food packaging materials. It is applicable to food chewing gum, bubble gum, medicine Zhengjin oil and other components as well as heat carrier, demoulding, tablet pressing, polishing and other waxes that directly contact food and medicine (made from waxy fractions of petroleum or shale oil by cold pressing and other methods).
